How to Obtain Your Merit Badge Certificate

There are basically two ways to get your Certificate showing a "Completion" or "Partial":

1) Send an email to k5bsa@arrl.net and include in the subject line "HamCom Radio MB".

In the body of the message include the following:
Troop Number
Scout's Full Name
Scout's Home Address (Street Number, Street Name, City, State and Zip Code)

Include a statement you are requesting a Certificate of Particpation in the Radio Merit Badge Class held at HamCom on Saturday, June 19, 2004.

An email will be sent to the REPLY-ALL addresses in the message with a statement confirming either a "Completion" or "Partial" for the Scout's participation in the Radio Merit Badge Class.

2) For those Troops requiring a physical "Blue Card" or Unit specific form, please send a written request with a Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope (SASE) with any required forms to:

Frank Krizan, KR1ZAN
Attn: Radio MB
1005 Talley Rd
Garland, TX 75044

In the written request, include the following:
Troop Number
Scout's Full Name
Scout's Home Address (Street Number, Street Name, City, State and Zip Code)

Include a statement you are requesting a Certificate of Particpation in the Radio Merit Badge Class held at HamCom on Saturday, June 19, 2004.  If you send a "Blue Card" or other form, please highlight all areas to be filled in.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET THE SCOUT'S WORKSHEETS BACK, PLEASE SEND A LARGE ENOUGH SELF-ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPE (SASE) TO ACCOMMODATE THE CERTIFICATE AND FOUR 8-1/2 X 11 INCH PAGES.  Please state you are requesting the Scout's worksheets.

My Troop number wasn't in the list - What do I do now?

It's always possible we made a typing error; but, the first thing to do is go back to the Troop Number list and click on the "REFRESH" button on your browser.  You may be getting an old version from your computer's cache.

We may have had to interpret handwriting and guessed the wrong Troop number.  If you participated and do not see your Troop number, send an email to k5bsa@qsl.net (note this is a different address than the one listed above) and state your Troop Number, Name and Address.  We'll search for the name and let you know if we have the paperwork.  All papers left behind at the end of the day were collected and reviewed and any papers which contained Merit Badge notes were saved and reviewed.

I got a "PARTIAL" and want to complete the Radio Merit Badge - What do I do now?

Your "Partial" will show the parts of the Merit Badge that must be completed in order to earn the Radio Merit Badge.  You should contact your Scoutmaster or Troop Advancement Chairman to determine if a Radio Merit Badge Counselor is available.  The information you need to complete the remaining requirements is contained in the Radio Merit Badge pamphlet, available through Council offices and stores which sell Boy Scout supplies.  Another great resource is the Radio MB web site at http://www.qsl.net/aa6j/radiomb/

If your Troop does not have access to a Radio Merit Badge Counselor, you may email your additional work to frank@krizan.org or send via mail to:

Frank Krizan, KR1ZAN
Attn: Radio MB
1005 Talley Rd
Garland, TX 75044
In either case, include your Troop Number, Full Name and Address (Street Number, Street Name, City, State and Zip).  If you are send via U. S. mail, include a Self-Addressed, Stamped-Envelope (SASE) for a response and Completion Certificate (if your work completes the missing requirements).  If you want your work returned, make certain the envelope is large enough for about 6 sheets of paper and has enough postage on it.

Thanks for particpating in the Radio Merit Badge Course at HamCom 2004.  We hope you had a great time and got to see what amateur radio is all about.  For more information about this great hobby/service, see http://www.arrl.org/
